Inksmithy back up

Ok, this site has been offline for some time because some nasty radical middle eastern types decided that my site was a good place to air their grievances with the west and totally defaced my site.

To be honest, I hadn't secured the place properly and I learnt a couple of things from the episode, so hopefully I've made this one a little more secure.

That's not a challenge by the way.  I'm quite happy with the site as it is and I'd really prefer to keep it this way.

Anyway, we are back up and running and I've got a few things on the cooker which may be interesting to people. For one, I have a few publishing houses emailing me to ask if I want to review some of their up and coming books. In every instance that they have asked, I have replied with a "Yes please" and a request for an extra copy for giveaways and/or competitions.

Now the first one of those has arrived.

The book is called "Rant" by Chuck Palahniuk, the author of Fight Club and Choke and a load of other books as well.

I've been sent three copies of this book with the idea that I review one and give the other two copies away in competitions, so thats exactly what I'm going to do.

The first two people who submit three (reasonable and original) reviews of a book on this site will get a hard cover, first edition copy of Rant by Chuck Palahniuk sent to them.

Its dead easy stuff people, read a book, it doesn't matter which one or even if its been reviewed here already, write your own review of it and post it on this site. Put the Amazon link at the bottom of it as per the instructions and do that another three times. If you are among the first two people to do it, then I'll send you a brand new first edition.

Can't be much wrong with that can there?

Other books I've got coming are Runemarks by Joanne Harris and The Black Tattoo by Sam Enthoven.

Joanne Harris wrote Chocolat, which was a lovely story and was turned into a rather wonderful film as well.

The Black Tattoo is Sam Enthoven's first book and from what I have seen of it so far looks to be a good one. Its aimed at a teen audience and I have to say any book which tries to get teens reading is a good effort, regardless of anything else. If it inspires just one person to read more, its a success. I'm looking forward to getting a couple of copies of it.
